Inspired by some concrete cracks in the wall of my art studio, I began to play with ideas by using a picture frame to crop different perspectives of these elements. At this time, I was quite fascinated with how artist, Deborah Tarr, reduced her colour palette to bring awareness to slight variances of a single colour. I felt it brought deep sensitivity to her work and that was what I was after in this composition. My mind was flooded with shades of red like the blood that runs through our body to give us life and connection to our Creator. I started to place colours and could see shapes that resembled two women. These figures formed by broad strokes of colour and highlighted with soft lines are brought together in deep reflection of love and sacrifice.
