“Love ought to bring into the countenance some suggestion of quiet strength and restful confidence … let us sit down in the armchair of His love and be at rest, and then get to work. You cannot work unless you have a background rest, and rest does not spring firstly from truth. It comes from love, God's love.” The above statement by T. Austin Sparks, seemed quite fitting to be paired with this work as both bring about a deep exhale for me personally. It speaks to my heart, mind, and body that I am not alone, hence the title, “Here with You”. After a morning of figure drawing, this sketch stood out among all the rest. I knew she was the one and I knew she needed a large canvas.
