Ever since we moved into our home a couple of years ago, there has been a wall in our living room, begging for a piece of art. The size of work that it demanded was clear, but the style was not. I wasn’t sure if the space could handle more colour or if I should go with something subtle. When considering a piece of art, you must not only connect with it, but the space you are putting it in must also draw a connection. In this particular room, I go to to think, read, daydream, and drink coffee with my husband. It’s a place to recharge, so there are eclectic pieces to visually excite me. When I came across this image my eye was instantly drawn to the collision happening between these massive landforms. I intentionally enhanced the colours so that when you look at it, it feels like you have captured the most vibrant, exhilarating moment between these two. This piece aesthetically brings all things together in the room. It commands the room but it doesn’t dominate. My eye still travels around, so there is balance. This painting makes me say, YES when I see it. I think of momentous times in my life where saying “yes” was pivotal and life-changing.
