While creating this piece, I had an opportunity to reflect on those early days of motherhood. Under the surface of exhaustion and restlessness, refining was in progress. Looking back now, I recognize it was the Holy Spirit giving me hope. When I meditate on that, my heart can’t help but be thankful. As believers, “the process” is meant to draw us closer to a dependency on the Lord and not on our own capabilities or those of others. It was Jesus who told his disciples that "unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Just as a baby is fully dependent on his mother to feed him, we will never personally know the sufficiency of Christ until we become desperate for it.
Figurative painting of an embracing figure defined by white contour lines against deep black, with warm brown and cream accents suggesting comfort and protection, displayed in a float frame, by Joanna Aplin, Canadian figurative artist.
